Sight Elsewhere
I record with film images that are rooted in my imagination. They are made up of light, balance geometry and color; they are born in reality but exist in the edge between abstraction and representation. These images grasp a moment in time that is motivated by the absence of the individual. They are open doors, windows to an unclaimed personal journey and capture the essence that remains after we have cross, occupied the ether, felt it, seen it, and abandon it.
The elements of the environment that are unforeseen, the role of perception, reception and deception captivates me. Color becomes a threshold for shadow, shape and depth that culminates in the moment when I compose and take the photograph. These images hint to a subtle examination of the deconstruction of the expected ways of seeing. The constant question of what the images are or what they can be translate to state of liberty; the mind is not preoccupied by recognition of what is presented or expected, but infused in a state of contemplation that is purely personal and non transferable.

“Things are because we see them, and what we see, and how we see it, depends on the Arts that have influenced us. To look at a thing is very different from seeing a thing. One does not see anything until one sees its beauty. Then, and then only, does it come into existence."
-Oscar Wilde
